Color Combos

4.23.12
I love this book. Still reading my Steinbeck Memoir.

4.24.12
Trying to figure out my color combos for my project. I think I'll go with the yellow and white on white. Non of this brown murky stuff. It is just not what I'm going for.

4.25.12
Love the smell of windblown clean sheets. MmmmmMmmm. Which by the way, if you have not heard of the CleanSheets performance traveling around the Philadelphia area, check them out here.
Clean Sheets
I highly recommend.

4.17.12
My newest addition to my library. I came across a reference to Travels with Charley while planning our trip to Maine - coming this summer - which I am gloriously looking forward to. Last night I began reading and in the first two pages I knew, this was the perfect book to wet my appetite for our trip. Hopefully the rest of the book meets my expectations. Here are a few of my favorite sections:

When I was very young and the urge to be someplace else was on me, I was assured by mature people that maturity would cure this itch. When years described me as mature, the remedy sured that greater age would calm my fever and now that I am fity-eight perhaps senility will do the job. Nothing has worked.

When the virus of restlessness begins to take possession of a wayward man, and the road away from Here seems broad and straight and sweet, the victim must first find in himself a good and sufficient reason for going. This to the practical bum is not difficult he has a built in garden of reasons to choose from.

Once a journey is designed, equipped, and put in process, a new factor enters and takes over. A trip, a safari, an exploration, is an entity, different from all other journeys. It has a personality, temperament, individuality, uniqueness. A journey is a person in itself; no two are alike. And all plans, safeguards, policing and coercion are fruitless. We find after years of struggle that we do not take a trip; a trip takes us. Tour masters, schedules, reservations, brass-bound and inevitable, dash themselves to wreckage on the personality of the trip. Only when this is recognized can the blown-in-the-glass bum relax and go along with it. Only then do the frustrations fall away. In this a journey is like marriage. The certain way to be wrong is to think you control it.

Florida Journeys

4.11.12
Arrived in Fl after being upgraded to business class because my seat was moved four times. Saw Mom and Dad's new house and then ate dinner with Uncle Drue and Aunt Evie. She made a Polynesian meal. It was like nothing else I've ever eaten. Rice as the base then topped with all kinds of things like pine nuts, coconut, celery, green onions, chicken broth, soy sauce, pineapple, cheese...and lots more. Sounds a little odd, but it was amazing. YUM.

4.12.12
 My sister and I. Yay!

Saw an alligator and a kid with crooked glasses.

Violin workshop
We were able to see some of the last steps in handmaking violins. What a process. He is so talented!

Cupcakes, Swimming, and Bruschetta

4.2.12
Camera phone photo shoot. Two little boys favorite creations after a morning of baking. I think they did a fantabulous job.

4.3.12
Packed for the pool in the AM. After a week hiatus I am back in the pool with Rebecca.Yesterday I realized how much fun swimming laps really is for me. "Swimming laps" sounds awful which is probably why I had never tried it before. That and I was always the last kid to move forward in my swimming skills. The one who still had to hold her nose when she swam underwater. The one who never figured out how to swim free style because she still had to hold her nose. The one who was scared to death of jumping off the diving board but did it anyway to avoid being a scaredy cat...I was that one. "Swimming laps" sounds awful, but somehow being in the water makes it fantastically wonderful. My love of water won over the uncomfortable feeling of breathing in a nose full of water. I'm not sure how, but it did. Today (4.2.12) as I was getting frustrated with the day in day out obstacles of life I thought "I could go back to the pool right now" It is another freeing place where everything goes away and it is just me and the water. Loving it.

4.4.12
My Basil is popping up! Yummy bruschetta to come. In fact I do not think I will wait. I will go buy basil for bruschetta tonight.
