Blooming Daisies...or Not

6.26.12
My Daisies are actually Purple Corn Flowers.
One of my favorite flowers!
I thought for sure I planted daisies. I'm not sure what happened, but I'm not complaining!

Clippings...

Boating and laying out at the lake...last day of camping.
Becky is currently reading my Steinbeck book and she read out loud to me...fantastic.

6.23.12
1st day of camping complete with grease fires. Breakfast was quite exciting as always.

6.23.12
Same day hiking at Oquaga State Park. We never were quite on the trail. Who needs trails in a small state park? eh.

Our hobo dinners turned out pretty well by the way :).

6.22.12
Sunset Friday night. Woo!

Hubs relaxing before bed. Guns and Ammo....

6.19.12
Ended my day with some sewing.
Hemming my pants and took in one of my shirts. It's hard to find clothes that actually fit me sometimes! It was also nice to skype with my brother...skype is going to be my new best friend this year since my family is moving farther away.

6.18.12
I had some time this afternoon and went through a small nature center with the camera. I actually did not take very many pictures, but this frog posed quite nicely for me.

Grilled Stuffed Peppers

6.17.12
Grilled Stuffed Jalapeno Peppers!
They did not grill evenly, but John seemed to enjoy his. Mine set my mouth on fire and then turned my esophagus into a furnace. I'm not so sure I even want to try them again. We shall see.

6.16.12
I re-arranged my fish tank! New black sand. Oh yes.

This fish tank has been quite the adventure. I have had it about a year or so and I still have not worked out the kinks. Every time I do any research I find another thing I am doing wrong. Wonderful. I had white sand in the fish tank. Recently I put rocks on top of the sand because I was thinking about switching to rocks. Rocks...not gravel. FYI it does not work so well. Then when I was researching to decide what to do next, I found out the white sand reflects the light and can stress the fish out. That explains why my fish loose their colors after about 2 hours with the light on. Poor guys, they've been doing the sun stare for for a year.

Black Sand = Colorful and Happy Fishes

6.15.12

Visiting Conneticut

6.10.12

Home Sweet Home
I'm not trying to do any advertising or anything, but now that we are home I had to go grocery shopping. Off to Trader Joe's! We love shopping at Trader Joe's.

6.9.12

The group of us! We stayed with Uncle Charlie for a couple of days this week after driving up for John's grandfather's funeral (Gramps). It was wonderful to see everyone, yet bittersweet at Gramps passing. We did enjoy lots of peace and quiet in the woods, walks, looking at old pictures and sharing memories.

6.8.12
John worked on the car ALL day replacing the front axles. Did you know there are two pieces to the front axle? I thought it was all one piece. Anyway, it took hours to get the ball joint out/off on the first (left) side. This is his victory stance after finally getting the first old axle out. Can you see where it is broken? Now the car is all put back together and fixed - at least that part...there's more to do later. Thank you hubs for taking care of the car! :)

6.7.12
In Memory of Kenneth Fitts (Gramps)

I did not know Gramps for very long. I did not meet him until after John and I were married, but in the short time I did know him I enjoyed him very much. One of the first times I met him he told us about his motorcycle trip to California and back when he was 21 years old. He went the whole trip on his motorcycle, spending only dollars in gas, fixed his motorcycle multiple times, and often sleeping under the stars. Amazing. I learned this past week he also learned how to sail after he retired and would sail up and down the coast with friend on occasion - even making it to the bahamas.

He was always tinkering with something when we went over to the house. I see a lot of him in John. He loved learning how things worked and making his own creations. He built his own motorcycle when he was 12 (out of a small motor and two by fours) and made several of his own radios which he showed to us himself. I think the one time we stopped by he was making his own battery charger for a device for which you could no longer buy the charger. He was a kind and interesting man and from what I knew of him, and the stories I have heard from others, he lived a full life. I only wish I could have met him earlier. He will surely be missed.

6.6.12
Back to swimming after being sick. I love being in the water! And look at our cute little shower caddies!

Week of Sick

6.2.12
Finally went and saw Avengers.
Can you say 6$ tickets in the AM? Yes!

6.1.12
Been playing a lot of Wii this week having been sick...felt better today but was completely tired by the end of the day.

3.31.12
Throat Coat....ahhhhh
We actually ran out last week when John was sick. I finally went out to the store to get some.

3.30.12
My babes brought me a FAMILY SIZED chicken noodle soup from Wawa since I was sick. Wawa's chicken noodle = my favorite.

3.29.12
Memorial Day was not all just fun and games. I started feeling sick before I had to leave Monday afternoon. I took an Aleve and made it home, but I've been sick all week. (It's all John's fault, he had it first) But the good news is, we bought a Wii!! Yay for Mario Kart and SuperMario and lots more.
